Description Two small bellied tureens and covers, pear-shaped bodies with twisted strap handles. Lid surmounted by a blue lotus flower finial. Tureens have underglaze blue decoration, each having a diamond and lattice band bordered with a post-and-spear design (Nanking) on the scalloped outflaring foot as well as at the edge of the scalloped lid. Each long side of the tureens are embellished with a central circular medallion surrounded by four panels comprised of stylized floral designs, representing the Chinese arts of music, painting, literature and poetry, and philosophy of life (Fitzhugh).
