Description |
Set of ten ebony side chairs ensuite with settee, two armchairs, and two pier tables. The chairs have split carved pilaster backs having carved acanthus-leaf capitals, vertical fluted columns that swell slightly at the bottoms, and horizontal fluted rails. The horizontal rails across the top and above the seat are fluted. A rectangular element carved with a rosette joins the stiles and top rail. The turned, tapered front legs are similarly carved with acanthus leaf capitals and fluted tapered columns, only in-the-round, and have turned bun-shaped ankles. The vase-shaped turned supports for the delicate, sleek arms are also vertically fluted. Over-the-rail upholstery on ash seat frames. Leg blocks are eastern white pine. |
