Description |
Secretary desk and bookcase with a broken scroll pediment framing a small flame finial with small dentils along the cornice molding. The upper portion is fitted with two panelled doors of beautifully grained wood, enclosing three drawers and shelves on the interior. Slanting or falling front with plain pigeonholes and small drawer interior, over four graduated cock beaded long drawers, enhanced with original brasses. Molded base on ogee bracket feet. "D T" pencilled on bottom of insider top-left drawer in writing section. "John W" also in pencil."CMC" in varnish on back of small drawer. Notation by "J.C. Springer, Mar 16th, 1864." "W. Drises" on inside bottom of small drawer. |
